6/03/11 Key Largo to Flamingo

Well there is not much to speak of as far as fish landed. I have been finding fish nearly every trip. I am sticking to my guns and going fly only no matter what until I get a few fish under my belt. Today the wind was about 20-25kts out of the ENE so I decided I would take Mr. Carter for a boat ride. The goal was to learn the way from my house (Key Largo) to Flamingo. With the help of the iPhone and the Top Spot map I made it no problem. It is a very neat run with lots to look at. I was amazed the way the 18 HPX-V crossed the big bays in monster chop. The only fish sighting to speak of was about a 100lb tarpon wallowing around in 8″ of water with his tail and dorsal exposed about 30yds away from where I was staked out. Man I would have loved to have got a shot but there was no way with the wind so I just watched. They are calling for a weather window on Monday so hopefully I will have something to show. Here are a few randoms…

A couple flies

Of course I am still hammering my pet tarpon on fly in the backyard on a nightly basis…
