Well I just got home from a quick visit to Destin to see some good friends and do some cobia fishing. Saturday we went out on the Top Rod a fine 37ft Topaz thats makes for a great cobia boat. We looked for 4 hours before finding the first one which we ran over due to seeing him at the last second. Shortly after this guy popped up. I threw the pinfish at him since they were sold out of eels from Panama City Beach to Pensacola. He ate it immediately. After a short 15 minute fight we put the first fish of 2011 in the box. A 58lber.
We continued on for nearly an hour before spotting a MONSTER! This fish was every bit of 90lbs. We threw everything we had at her for nearly 10 minutes as she rode on top like we were not even there. She ate the giant mullet twice but was only mouthing it and not sucking it down. Man I wish we had eels!
